Welcome!

My name is Rick! I am a recent graduate of the University of Maryland with a Master of Science in Data Science. Through my coursework and projects, I have developed expertise in machine learning, deep learning, big data systems, cloud computing, and statistical modeling, applying these skills to real-world problems.

My coursework has included: Probability and Statistics, Introduction to Data Science, Introduction to Machine Learning, Data Representation and Modeling, Big Data Systems, Algorithms for Data Science, Natural Language Processing, Deep Learning, Communications for Data Science, and Cloud Computing.

Before pursuing my advanced degree, I spent 10 years working as an analyst in Healthcare IT. Over time, I realized I wanted a new challenge—something more analytical and predictive. I have always been passionate about sports statistics and the process of building models to uncover patterns and make predictions. That curiosity led me to take a leap: I left my job, enrolled in a Data Science bootcamp, and fully committed to making a career pivot.

During the bootcamp, I focused on Python, exploratory data analysis, and a variety of modeling techniques to expand my technical toolkit. My Masters program allowed me to deepen my knowledge, work on complex projects, and refine my approach to data-driven problem-solving.

Below, you will find some of my projects from my Masters and my data science bootcamp.
